How AI Voice Agents Work
A voice agent chains several AI components into one natural conversation. We built one for our own website; here is how each part works and what makes the experience feel human.

1. Listening: speech-to-text
The caller's audio is transcribed by a speech model. Silence detection decides when they've finished speaking, and the model can detect which language they are using.
2. Understanding and reasoning
A language model interprets the intent, looks up approved knowledge, remembers what has already been said and decides the next best response or action.
3. Speaking: text-to-speech
The reply is converted to natural speech with a neural voice in the caller's language. Short, conversational answers keep the exchange flowing.
4. Acting and handing off
The agent can capture requirements, book appointments or create tickets, then pass a summary and transcript to the team — so nobody has to ask the caller to repeat themselves.
What makes it feel natural
Low latency, interruption handling, short replies, consistent tone and honest escalation when the agent doesn't know.
Frequently asked questions
